About Us

Located in the Forest of Dean village of Soudley, the Dean Heritage Centre offers a perfect fun day out for all the family.

With five acres to explore, the centre has something for everyone to discover including history, culture, art and a variety of interesting and unique attractions set against a spectacular backdrop.

With five museum galleries, various outside displays and exciting arts and crafts demonstrations; a visit to the Dean Heritage Centre can last for a few hours. Why not spend the day and bring along a picnic to enjoy or have a bite to eat in our Tearoom?

With our wide range of knowledge, the centre is also a visitor information point for visitors to the Forest of Dean and our friendly staff are always available to advise on nearby walking and cycling routes, other attractions and local amenities.

Our aim for the future is to preserve the heritage of the Forest with stories and artefacts and create an exciting, interactive Centre to bring it back to life. With your generous support we can:

  • Bring our exceptional collections to life through our engaging exhibitions, displays, research, outreach and loan box programmes for visitors, students and lifelong learners alike.
  • Acquire important new collection items, preserving our shared cultural heritage.
  • Look after precious items for future generations in order to secure a lasting legacy and safeguard our collection for future benefit.
  • Provide access to our collections and the opportunity to research with our Research Room and new digital technologies.
